Parenting Workshops

A fabulous way to increase parental engagement with your school is through parent workshops. You know your community best, so we can tailor a workshop based on what the need is.

Usually an hour in total, the workshops are usually structured to give an overview of the issue and evidence, then practical strategies to support, with time for Q&A at the end.

Examples of previously run Parent Workshops include:

  • Consent and boundaries for littlies: an insight into why the teaching of consent and boundaries is so important, and advice on how to start sowing the seeds of bodily autonomy and appropriate assertiveness early on.

  • Executive Function: executive function and self regulation are the mental processes that help us plan, focus attention, remember instructions and prioritise tasks. This workshop gives an introduction to executive function, and tips to support children who are struggling.

  • Growth Mindset: Evidence tells us that having a growth mindset helps us embrace failure, persevere, accept help and ultimately have more success. This workshop gives an overview of the evidence, and offers tips and strategies to support children to develop a growth mindset.

  • Online Safety: Device use and internet access is necessary, useful and difficult to manage, especially when children are often much more tech-savvy than adults. Learn ways parents can help increase their children’s online safety, most of which don’t require a great deal of knowledge about technology itself.

  • Parenting in the age of Porn & AI: Insights into the challenges posed by digital content and artificial Intelligence, with effective strategies to guide children through these evolving landscapes. Support to leant the tools to foster open communication, critical thinking and resilience.

  • The Teenage Brain: an insight into what’s going on inside the head of teenager, and how to help them navigate the challenges of adolescence to prepare them for a healthy and happy adulthood.

  • Sleep: the importance of sleep, and what happens when children don’t get enough, along with tips and strategies to increase sleep and improve sleep quality

  • Supporting your Teen to Study: understanding what stress is, and how to navigate the stressful period that is exam time, while preserving parents’ relationship with their child. Tips on study strategies and what parents can do to help.
